Recently, the Ministry of Education (MOE) issued The Circular of the Ministry of Education on the Announcement of the Results of Archival Filing and Approval of Undergraduate Majors in Ordinary Institutions of Higher Education in 2018 (no. 7 [2019]). The three undergraduate majors in our school, namely Romanian, Indonesian and Linguistics, have been approved. The degree awarding category of Information Management and Information System majors have been approved to change from management to engineering. Among which the Linguistics is a new major outside the national directory.

The undergraduate major of "linguistics" in our university is the first one approved in China. It is also the first new major outside the national directory approved in China, which indicates that our university has made a great breakthrough in the professional construction.

The declaration of new majors is in accordance with the trends of the development of society and economy. On one hand, as for our university, the new majors, based on the former advantage majors, is a significant reform on cultivating compound, interdisciplinary, international, high-quality professional talents of linguistics. Also, it realizes the improvement of professional, promotes the steady development of BLCU, and keeps the new major an advanced role in the discipline system. On the other hand, we believe that the new majors , to a certain degree, will satisfied the demand for the talents who can serve the One Belt And One Road language service system construction.

Up to now, our university has 33 undergraduate majors. According to the requirements of the national standards of professional teaching quality and the needs of social and economic development, our school will scientifically and rigorously design the program of professional undergraduate talents training, strengthen the allocation of professional resources, and constantly improve the quality of talents.
