At 4:00 pm on September 24th, the sixth lecture of  theoretical linguistics series of the Department of Linguistics of BLCU was held in Teaching Integrated Building 1211. The guest speaker of this lecture is professor Jingmin Shao of Jinan University. The topic of the lecture is “Chinese Dream and the Way of Pursuing the Dream”.

           Professor Jingmin Shao shared his experience with students and faculty of the Department of Linguistics.

Combining with his own academic growth, Professor Jingmin Shao shared his linguistic research path with teachers and students of the Department of Linguistics from the two aspects of “knowledge of being a man” and “knowledge of being a scholar”. He also encouraged everyone to lead a healthy and fulfilling life and make a unique contribution to the development of Chinese linguistics.

Professor Jingmin Shao has been engaged in the research of modern Chinese grammar for a long time. Received special allowance from the State Council, he is currently the distinguished first-class professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Jinan University. Professor Jingmin Shao’s academic achievements are outstanding. He has published more than 50 kinds of works (including the chief editor) and more than 360 linguistic papers in Studies of the Chinese Language and other periodicals. The audience of the lecture said that it was interesting in language and profound in content, which was very enlightening to young students’ academic career planning.

After the lecture, the Department of Linguistics organized further discussions. Professor Bingfu Lu, professor Zhongru Xiong and representatives of young teachers Dr. Xiaochen Sun and Dr. Wenying Wang communicated with Professor Jingmin Shao. Professor Fuzhen Si, head of the department, presided over the lecture and discussion.
