On September 18th-22th, 2019, the seminar on “Review and Prospect of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the 20th Anniversary of Macao Language Life" was held in the Macau University of Science and Technology. Professor Si Fuzhen, the head of the Department of Linguistics, was invited to attend this seminar. She made an academic report entitled “A 20-year study on language policy of Macao”.

This meeting summarized and reviewed the development and changes of Macao of its 20-year return to China in the fields of linguistic research, formulation and implementation of laws and regulations, education, government work, etc. It also probed into the language and cultural policy of the integration of Macao into the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. About 80 experts and scholars from the mainland of China, Macao, Hong Kong and Taiwan attended the meeting.

Professor Si Fuzhen highly appraised the responsibility of the colleagues in the linguistic field of Macao, represented by Professor Cheng Xianghui, founding president of the Macao Language Society, for the prosperity and stability of the linguistic and cultural life of Macao in the 20 years since the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region. She reviewed the achievements of the study on Macao language life, and believed that it is of great value and significance to integrate the study of Macao language life into the background of GBA and even the background of internationalization.
